Visit to Baños de la Encina, Sabiote, Canena





BAÑOS DE LA ENCINA

We will see one of the most beautiful Medieval villages in the city of Jaén. It is located down Sierra Morena. It owns a historic central area full of ancestral homes, la iglesia de San Mateo and la Ermita del Cristo del Llano, with a marvellous baroque niche. Moreover, we will have the possibility of contemplating the impressive Moorish castle, build up in the year 968. It has fifteen towers, and it is crowning a hill above the marsh of el Rumblar.

SABIOTE

We will visit the historic city centre of this medieval village. Besides, parts of the wall, la iglesia de San Pedro and the castle carried out by Andrés de Vandelvira to Francisco de los Cobos. (The castle is currently closed for refurbishment)

 

CANENA

It is a typical village of the region of la Loma. It has a medieval castle reformed in the XVI century by Andrés de Vandelvira. This castle owns a splendid Renaissance patio and it is inhabited nowadays.
